Move over, Sherlock Holmes, Hercule Poirot, and Miss Marple, another famous literary detective is about to get his chance to shine next month with Lynley. Based on the Inspector Lynley novels by Elizabeth George, the new BBC One and BritBox crime drama is coming to the U.S. and Canada on September 4, introducing a new take on the DI as played by Vikings: Valhalla star Leo Suter. Although he’s not quite as big a name as the other hot-shot inspectors, he has 22 books following his journey as an outsider to the police force with a brilliant mind, an aristocratic upbringing, and a spirit for crime-solving. We’re excited to include his latest venture to television as part of Collider’s Exclusive Preview event for fall shows, and we can share a new image of him hard at work at his desk alongside his maverick sidekick, DS Barbara Havers (Sofia Barclay).
